Re:Visited Pt. IV - Dark Days

I know I’m not alone here, but I find dreary days to be my favourite for creativity. It’s certainly an easy excuse to stay in when the weather is gloomy. I suppose the rain and overcast skies that come with autumn in Canada lend themselves well to my creative flow.

Unfortunately, these kind of days can also present an absolute creative block. It feels suffocating in a way. I’m notorious for putting all my energy into one thing at a time, trying to complete it all at once or in a short amount of time. Interrupting the ‘flow’ would feel like a waste, probably with a fear that I won’t get into the same creative headspace. Lately though, I’ve found it helpful to spread out my work over longer periods of time and accept that it’s okay to walk away from a piece of work for a bit.

This photo/blog series has been a great way to practice patience by giving me something creative to work on in between bigger projects. Looking back at and revisiting my collection of works has been a great reminder to myself that I don’t need to produce something completely new and unique to feel creatively productive. The picture below was taken in
Iceland in 2016 and recently re-edited to match my current style and editing know-how. For more reflections and remastered comparisons, check out the rest of the series from my main blog page.
